Hey there family,
So I am getting transferred:( S. Richins and I are really bummed about it, because everything is seeming to finally work. Courtney has a date for the 21sy of march, we are teaching the bishop's son's girlfriend and I really am liking the ward. But I guess that that is when the Lord sees that you need to change. Not only am I moving, but I will be senior comp. I don't know if i am ready for that, but who the Lord calls the Lord qualifies. I don't know where i will be going, but if you want to send something to me you can send it to the mission office and they will forward it to me.
It sounds like you all had a busy weekend. It would have been fun to be there, but you know I am here serving the Lord.
It is funny that you said something about pebble beach, because I was just telling S. Richins about us going up there and "celebrating " my birthday. :) Thanks for the oranges. Who really threw me off when I picked up the box. I had no idea that you were actually going to send some. They are good I was really surprised. I gave some to the elders in my district, they seemed excited to have some fresh fruit.
My mind has been every where this week, maybe because I knew that I was getting transferred. I don't know what is in store for me in the next few days but I know that if I just go in head first I will do alright. The other reason why I think I have been so spacey is I have been out for 9 months this week. It is a little scary that I am half way.
You wanted a spiritual message... Ok so this isn't spiritual, but take it how you want. I didn't choose to be republican, I just think. Cute I know. But seriously something spiritual. In our lesson with Courtney yesterday we had it over at a member's home- the Jackson's. S. Jackson made a comment about prayer. When she works in the kitchen she talks to herself going through the steps of what ever she is making. At times Bro. Jackson will walk by and ask "Are you talking to me?" She would say "No, just to myself." Are we doing that with our prayers? Are we just talking to ourselves or are we talking to our Father with whom we have a relationship with? Just food for thought.

Letter From 2.2.09
Hey there family,
I can't believe that it is February! This week has been a fast one. We are still teaching the family, but it has been frustrating that they will not come to church even when they promise to come. S.Richins thinks that we should keep trying, but just slow down a bit. We will have to see what happens.
You wanted to know more about Courtney, the girl form Newport, well she is amazing! She called us this week and asked how she could be baptized and how quick is the process. "This is definitely what I have been looking for"... "It just seems right"... "I feel so comfortable". She said everything that a missionary wants to hear form their investigator. She has been so prepared. She has set a date for March 21st. The family that introduced her to the church is in Virginia and she wants them there and for the husband to baptize her. She didn't know that he could do that and when we told her that he could she almost cried. I don't know if I will see her get baptized,because it would be the end of next transfer. But you never know what the Lord has in store for us all.
On January 23rd S. Richins and I started to pray for every member of our family. each person has their own day. I am glade to hear that there are some miracles that are happening.
We had zone conference this week in Augusta. Man did I need that meeting. This life is so totally up to us. If we want to see miracles, be happy, have success it is all up to us. We are here on this earth to work. Our work may be different than others but what we do with our time on earth is up to us. God will never force us to do anything. Because we are not force to do anything we need to make sure that we are taking responsibility for our actions.
Everything is going well. The work is moving forward and that is all that matters.

Letter from 1.26.09
Hey there family,
Well this week was a good one. We are still teaching Awilda and her family. Tonight we are teaching them the law of Chastity it will be interesting with the family the way it is, but for every lesson we can see them changing into better and better people.
The really awesome thing that happened was yesterday. The bishop's wife brought a girl about my age to church with her. She looked a little familiar and a little like a RM. I just assumed that it was a family friend. It was when Sis. Fitzgerald introduced her as a new investigator you could have knocked me over with a feather. She had learned about the church when she was at a boarding school in Virginia from a professor who is a member. They looked up the ward on the church website and she got in touch with the Fitzgerald's. There is a good testimonial to keep the ward web site up to date. The really awesome thing is she is from Newport. Her parents live by the Dover building. She has been so well prepared it is unbelievable. I can't wait to teach her the restored gospel! The Lord does work in unbelievable ways. We had to cross the continent to meet when we use to live 10 minutes from each other.
I did get the box of garments thank you. I almost put my thumb through some bottoms the other day, so now I don't have to worry about wearing them inside out for a day:).

Letter from 1.12.09
Hey there-
This week has been great. We have had weather that has made the roads completely ice over, don't worry we were safe inside when it got really bad. The hill that we live on had a little pile up on Tuesday night that made things very interesting. Let's just say we were watching the drama until 11:45pm....
Sundays are just another day of the week, just with more meetings. The white hand book says that it is the best time to go tracting and to find families home. I think that it lies...this past Sunday (yesturday) we got snowed out, so no church for us. It kinda stunk because Awilda and her family was so excited to got to church. But there is always next week.
We are teaching Awilda and her whole family. they are all trying to be baptized on the same day feb. 28th. We pushed it back so that they could come to Church and be really committed. They are loving the Gospel and what it brings to their family. they all have the bom in Spanish and in English so that they can understand it better and learn English better. They are so awesome. There are some trails we can see ahead, but they have the faith to make it through.

Letter from 1.5.09
Hello family,
We have seen the hand of the Lord in the work here in the land Gloucester. So we got our three baptismal commitments this past week and man did we work hard. President was proud of our work and told us to keep up the good work.
The only sour note for this past week is that Bill and the kids "are going to find a church more local." We don't know what happened. We showed up to our appointment and found a note and a bag of all the books that were given to them. Maybe a combination of a lot of small things, but it is now the ward to keep them active. I am not saying that the missionaries don't have any responsibility, but they are the ones that will be here, we leave.
We taught Awilda and her family last night and it was great. The whole family was in on the discussion. We didn't really teach a lesson per-say, but we answered questions that the kids had and i think gained their trust. I can really see why our Heavenly Father councils us to get and education that is not just spiritual. If they would attend school like they would they would not have so much superstition questions, but hey, that's the culture. We also found out that they all don't have the last name. What are we supposed to call them... So we call them the Patriot's or the Patriot family, because that is what street they live on. Very creative I know:). They will take some work to help all to come unto Christ, but it will happen. The oldest daughter has a 4 month old baby and we showed them how the world blocks out the light that we came from the longer that we live with out it. We put a picture of Christ in front of the baby and her eyes got wide and her face lite up. That baby out of that whole family knows what light is, because she is the last one to come from the light of our Heavenly Father. Cool huh!
Oh so I don't think that I told you this last week, but I am severing in an area with a church history spot. Topsfield is the town that Joseph Sr. and his father were born. Sister Richins and I were tracting in a neighborhood and found a little monument in front of this home. It was cool. Well I think that that is it for this week.

Letter from 12.20.08
Hey there family-
Well here is another week in Gloucester, Mass. Last night was transfer calls and it seemed like everyone from the bishop to the district and zone leaders thought that I was going to get transferred. I don't know why, but I know that I am going to be here at least till my birthday(transfer day).
I had curds and whey (pistachio pudding) with my at lunch at zone conference so it felt like I was home. It is amazing the small blessing you receive while serving the Lord.
Tonight we have an appointment with a new woman, Tasha. We found her tracting before our appointment with Rachel last week. We taught her a little about the book of Mormon and Joseph Smith and she wants to learn more.
Yesterday we had the stake presidency at our ward council. The president talked about the glasses we wear and how we need to take them off to expect and change to occur. He asked them ward leaders to get to know the missionaries in their ward (aka us) and go out and serve with them. One of our goals last transfer was to gain the trust of the ward. I think that we have for the most part, but now we need to call upon that trust for them to help us out more, but we also need to find more people for them to help us with.:) I hope that you all enjoyed Christmas and that this new year will be better to you then this past one.

Letter from 12.22.08
Merry Christmas!
How is everyone doing? Well I have survived my first blizzard here in New England. It snowed so much that church was canceled yesterday. We went up to Georgetown any way because we had a dinner appointment with a member. It was good, but every thing that comes from sister Jackson's kitchen is good.
Christmas call will be at 7pm ish. I guess that I will attempt the home phone number, but I don't really remember it so if it doesn't work I will call dad's cell. It sounds like mom and dad need to do some decorating so that is feels more like Christmas. Invite the elders over fore dinner or something. I bet that they would like that. It will make you feel better and they will have a good meal. And since yo have 14 days off of work see if they need a member for any of their lessons. It can be difficult for them to fine people to take teaching with them this time of year.
We have a baptismal date set for Jan.31. I don't know if I have told you about Awilda, but I think that her entering the waters of baptism will make her life so much better. I can't really think of anything else to say. I will talk to you on Thursday!
