Hey there family-
Well here is another week in Gloucester, Mass. Last night was transfer calls and it seemed like everyone from the bishop to the district and zone leaders thought that I was going to get transferred. I don't know why, but I know that I am going to be here at least till my birthday(transfer day).
I had curds and whey (pistachio pudding) with my at lunch at zone conference so it felt like I was home. It is amazing the small blessing you receive while serving the Lord.
Tonight we have an appointment with a new woman, Tasha. We found her tracting before our appointment with Rachel last week. We taught her a little about the book of Mormon and Joseph Smith and she wants to learn more.
Yesterday we had the stake presidency at our ward council. The president talked about the glasses we wear and how we need to take them off to expect and change to occur. He asked them ward leaders to get to know the missionaries in their ward (aka us) and go out and serve with them. One of our goals last transfer was to gain the trust of the ward. I think that we have for the most part, but now we need to call upon that trust for them to help us out more, but we also need to find more people for them to help us with.:) I hope that you all enjoyed Christmas and that this new year will be better to you then this past one.

Letter from 12.22.08
Merry Christmas!
How is everyone doing? Well I have survived my first blizzard here in New England. It snowed so much that church was canceled yesterday. We went up to Georgetown any way because we had a dinner appointment with a member. It was good, but every thing that comes from sister Jackson's kitchen is good.
Christmas call will be at 7pm ish. I guess that I will attempt the home phone number, but I don't really remember it so if it doesn't work I will call dad's cell. It sounds like mom and dad need to do some decorating so that is feels more like Christmas. Invite the elders over fore dinner or something. I bet that they would like that. It will make you feel better and they will have a good meal. And since yo have 14 days off of work see if they need a member for any of their lessons. It can be difficult for them to fine people to take teaching with them this time of year.
We have a baptismal date set for Jan.31. I don't know if I have told you about Awilda, but I think that her entering the waters of baptism will make her life so much better. I can't really think of anything else to say. I will talk to you on Thursday!

Letter from 12.15.08
Hey there fam- 12/15/08
Well this week we had a first. When the weather gets too bad the President pulls the cars off the road, and that is what happened to us. The ice storm did hit the east coast, but not in my area. It rained all day and all night on Thursday, but it never got below freezing. The other parts of my zone did get hit pretty hard, though. My zone leaders have been out of power for a few days now and two other wards joined us for church on Sunday because they didn't have power in their building. from what I have heard the Gloucester area is the warmest sister's area, so I am counting my blessings. Last week it was 19 today its is 50.
We don't have much of a teaching pool, but that is fine. We are working with a woman named Awilda, I might have told you about her last week. We met with her the other day and watched the restoration movie. The spirit was so strong! I know that she is prepared, but she will have to work through a lot of issues before she will be baptized, but she will be the better for it. Bill got the priesthood three weeks ago. Dan's birthday is this week so he will most likely get it after his interview this up coming week. It will be really awesome if Bill could give the priesthood to Dan, but I don't know if that will happen or not. The bishop will have to decide that.
I looked at the website that Ann made. That is really cool, thanks! I can't really look at it. Bending the rules I could, but I don't want the emailing privilege to be taken away like the music one..., but you could forward messages from there if you want... I will try to send home some pictures form the area so you can put new pictures on.
Though it is really cold outside I know that I am where I am needed by the Lord. I am learning more and more about the atonement everyday that is building my relationship with my Savior. I love this work!

Letter from 12.8.08
Hey there family- 12/08/08
Well I have lived through my first snow. It was really awesome. I felt like it was sent just for me (Gilmore Girls style). The only thing I don't like was that it was 18 degrees when I woke up to this morning. The Ausband family (Rachel and the girls) was baptized on the 29th of November. They have been members for a week now! It's really cool.
We had zone interviews this week. I felt bad for president, because of his cold,but he worked through it. Though i don't know how much he heard... Our district is starting to open up to one another, thanks in part to my companion. When the district is working together and trusts each other then the work seems to move forward so much smoother. We found a new family this week that we think that will be good. The mother's name is Awilda. She is originally from Puerto Rico, but moved to the US when she was younger and speaks English just fine. She had met with missionaries before and then moved so she lost contact with them. I think that she is ready for a new view of God and herself. We will have to see how everything works out.
I hope that all is going well there. please pray for snow for me so it will warm back up!

Letter from 12.1.08
Hey family:
The week has been a long but an awesome one. Saturday Rachel, Mackenzie and Isabel were baptized. I was really amazing to watch them enter the waters of baptism and change their eternities. The girls were so excited to be baptized and were a little hipper before the meeting started, but they settled right down as soon as the meeting started. This makes the second family that has been baptized in the month of November into the Georgetown ward. before bill and the kids there had not been a family baptized into the ward in 12 years. I think that that is really amazing that the Lord would bless this ward at this time with 2 families that are so solid. I have to tell you that our teaching pool is now as dry as the Sahara desert. I guess that is what happens when they get baptized:). We are out finding most of our days, it can be difficult to get motivated when it is freezing outside, but we do it anyway. the Lord always gives you a trial of your faith before he blesses you. our trial this we happened on Tuesday. We had what I call Hurricane Gloucester come through. The winds were really strong. At times we could hardly walk forward, because the wind was so bad. The rain on top of that just made it funny. I was able to use my new boots so my feet were nice and toasty. The only casualty was my poor umbrella. It hasn't been the same since then. we came in for lunch completely drenched, but the whole time we were out there we were laughing. Later that night after the hurricane blew through we went finding and found our first potential investigator! Oh how the Lord blesses us for our diligence. (or stupidity, you can choose which) Thanksgiving was great. The turkey was a success! We went to the Tew home for dinner and had some really great food. We finally got a ward mission leader! Now I bet the work will pick up!

Letter from November 24th
We had our baptism on the 8th, I don't know if I told you that. Bill, Dan and Samantha were baptized, my first family! It was so awesome.
I do have a new companion since sister fox went home. Her name is sister richins. She is from northern California. I don't know why president put two Californians together during the winter. We complain about the cold. If it was an Olympic sport we would totally win the gold. She is awesome and exactly what the area needs right now.
I did get a new coat,also some boots and some ear warmers, but I don't know how good it will be for keeping the thighs warm. if you by any chance see a down full length coat on sale somewhere think of you daughter who is a frozen sister,but if you don't that is ok I am only here for one winter. Thank heavens. No matter how many layers you put on most of the time you are still cold.
I do have somewhere to go for thanksgiving. We are having a meal with our district and then going over to a member's home after so we will have to see how much I can fit in my stomach.
Oh I am almost forgot. We are having a baptism on Saturday. Rachel and her two daughters are getting baptized. It is so cool! The only thing that I am worried about is that this next week WILL be a hard one for her. Keep her in your prayers, if you would. I will tell you how it goes next week.

Letter from 11.10.08
Hey family,
Sounds like you had a very interesting week. Ok you wanted me to answer questions. Yes I voted and got it in on time. I heard while we were out tracting about the ACLU going after the church, because some of our members in California were going around talking to people about the gay marriage proposition. I think that they should just build a bridge and get over it. But hey that us just me.
You wanted to know about my companion. Yes when I came to Gloucester I got a new comp. Her name is Sister Fox. She is from Magna, Utah. She will be going home next week, so I will be getting a new comp next Tuesday. She is sweet, but a complete stress case about going home. She has said many times a big factor for her coming out on her mission was to get a way from her parents and she is afraid that she will fall back into the same old patterns again. She has gotten some good advice from very wise people on going home, so I think she will do just fine. Thank you for allowing me to grow up and dealing with it very well!
We had zone conference this week. Yeah...so we were an hour late. There is a difference between Farmington and Farmingdale, Maine and it is about and hours drive. The rest I really don't want to go into detail.
Ohhh I almost forgot. So last weekend Bill and the kids had their baptismal interview and past. So this past Saturday I was able to stand font side like a proud Momma while all three were baptized. We had our golden investigator Rachel there with her three daughters. She was a little afraid of the water and full immersion thing, but after she was able to witness one herself she has set a date of Nov.29. Her two older daughters are old enough to be baptized and are planing on being baptized with her. I can only see the estranged husband putting a monkey wrench in the whole thing, but we have to see what happens.
All I am doing here it seems is baptizing my teaching pool or letting people go, so we are going to have to find some more people to teach. Ok tracting here I come.
We were out tracting last night and I could see into someones window that they were watching the Nascar race and I could tell that they were at either Phoenix or Lowes because it was a night race. GO JIMMIE! I don't have my investigator that loves Nascar here like I did in Newport to keep me as updated as I was there.

Letter from 11.3.08
Hey there family,
This week was full of walking and weird weather. I just wish mother nature would make up her mind!
Lets see what happened... Halloween was an interesting day. We plan every Friday from 10-1 then have lunch so that puts us out the door at 2. We worked for 2 hrs then came back home for packing and cleaning. We are not allowed outside our apartments on Halloween after 4pm. Needless to say I got a little claustrophobic. We packed all our stuff in our bags so we can "dejunk" and do a thorough cleaning of the apartment. Well this whole two wardrobes we need for summer and winter is not conducive to the two bags we are allowed. But if you sit on the bag long enough it will close. We cleaned pretty good last p-day so we did some touch ups and then had plans for a good dinner. I tried to make the soup that we saw on Rachel Ray, but our potatoes froze during the week and went bad so we tried substituting frozen french fries, yeah that didn't work. I thought it turned out fine, but I will eat anything and since I have just gotten over my first cold of the mission couldn't really taste much. What ever.
I am really glad that the transfer is almost over. I love my companion, but I think that if I had to stay much longer with her I would do something that I could get sent home for. There is always something to learn here on the mission.:) Ooohh, I almost forgot Bill and the kids (the Covney family) past their baptismal interview and will be getting baptized this up coming Saturday! I am soo excited that they are able to do this. we had to set back their date for different reasons, but they are so ready and can't wait.

Letter from 10.27.08
Hey there family-
Life here in Gloucester, Mass has been going good. The weather is not quite sure what it wants to do. It was freezing the middle of last week. I was layering up the best I could, but today I am walking around with a short sleeve shirt and am quite comfortable.
We have a car here, but miles are an issue this month. There was a family that would take the sisters to church every week, but they moved up by the church. We have been walking a lot needless to say. We have stayed here in Gloucester most of last week and will be here most of this week too. on Saturday we had to walk to the city of Rockport which is 12 miles round trip to talk with our investigator Bill and his kids. The day was really windy and on the way home I thought that is was going to rain, but the Lord helped us out a bit. a member of our ward drove past, stopped and gave us a ride back home.
Yesterday was stake conference. It was really amazing. I hadn't had a stake conference since I have been out so this was a new experience. Elder Eyring's son is our area authority so he was there and spoke to us. The stake president gave a talk about growing where God has planted you. It was really good to hear that someone has a positive attitude outlook on life. The people that we run into here are complaining about what the economy is going through, not knowing what the heck is going on there it just makes them sound like they are winning.
Last p-time we helped this woman that we tracked into take some boxes down to her basement. After she sat and 'prophesied' about what and kind of when that 2nd coming was going to occur. That was fun. The people you meet on your mission are people you will never forget and hope never to become like some.
When you send me things make sure that you put 18 Elwell St. BASEMENT, if not it will go to my neighbor. Nice lady I just don't want her to have to play mail service. I hope that all is going well with the family (those who i hear from and those i do not).

Letter from 10.20.08
Hey there family-
Well lets see where to start... I am in the city where Gorton's Fisherman Fish company started, and the oldest port in the us. Gloucester is big, but a lot of the people here don't really speak English, so we go to the out laying cities like Ipswich, Essex and some others. We live in the downstairs apartment, so we get to hear all of our neighbors walk around and watch TV. One really likes watching NCIS.
It has dropped like 15 degrees since I got here. My body did not like that at all. It would be fine temperature wise, but the darn wind blows and makes it so much more colder then it has to be, but what can you do.
The ward here is really sweet. We share it with elders. The only thing that stinks is that the ward members are up in the Georgetown area (by the elders) and we are down by the sea where there is not, but two members in the city of Gloucester. I guess we are doing our best to build the ward up around here, it is just been a little tough.
Yesterday in Sunday school the teacher talked about a movie that I guess had just come out about the Highland High rugby team called "Forever Strong". I thought that you could check it out, Dad since you graced the halls of old Highland High.
We are working here as hard as we can. The teaching pool will build back up we just need to work a bit harder. It is awesome that everything is going good. and that the house is in piece again.
I have been studying Doctrine and Covenants 4 this past week. It is amazing what you can find in that small section. If you look up the definitions of heart, might, mind and strength and then think about what the Lord expects of you... It is a lot. There is a verse in 2 Tim 6:19 that talks about the foundation that we need to build, one unto salvation. It's a cool one, look it up.

Letter from 10.6.08
Hey family-
Any who how is the Foy family? Didn't you just love Conference?! We had all of our investigators at at least one session. It is amazing how the lord works. The talks that were given in a session met the needs of the investigators that came to that specific session. It was great. I loved Elder Worthlin's talk. He told us when hard times come we need to laugh and trust that the lord is watching out for you. For every tear that drops in sorrow here we will shed a tear of joy in the life to come. Elder Holland's talk about angels that are mortal and immortal was one that will stick out in my mind for a long time. I feel like I have had a lot of angels around me threw out my life and even more since I am serving a mission.
I don't know where I am being transferred to, but I do know that they are opening a new sisters area... So we will have to see what happens. I loved my time here in Newport. I could not have asked for a better branch to serve in and people to work with. I have had three great companions that I have learned a lot from.
I hope all is well and that you are seeing the little miracles through out your day.

Letter from 9.29.08
Hey there family-
The weather here is starting to cool down, so I am learning the art of layering things under my skirts. I am so glad that I have my Doris Day coat, because if I didn't, I would be a frozen sister way too early. The leaves are changing and they are so beautiful that it is sometimes distracting. We have been getting rain from some hurricane so I hope that the leaves hang on for a few more weeks.
Right now the work has kind of stalled. No one has gotten baptized. All the people we are working with are trying to figure out "what the point is" to having the true church on the earth if we are all just good people and follow Christ. It is really making me look at the importance and the blessing of knowing that the true church of Christ is restored once more.
I don't know about who is getting transferred, but I do know that we get the call on Sunday and whoever is transferred leaves early on Tuesday.
Wasn't Woman's Conference just amazing!? Pres. Uchtdorf's talk was so good. I liked what he said about it doesn't matter the quality of your prayers, just as long as you are an answer to someone's prayers. We should all pray to be led by the spirit to be an answer to someone's prayers.
I know that the Lord looks out for us. We are His children that He loves so dearly. He wants that best for us, this is why He allowed His Son to give His life for us. We just need to follow the commandments and we will be able to with stand anything.

Letter form 9.22.08
Hello family,
How is everything going in all your lives? I bet that you are all really busy with school and work and all the things that happen with life. right now in New England fall is in full swing. The leaves are changing, the days are getting shorter and cooler.
we were suppose to go to a city called Bar Harbor today, but I love how Pres. Jensen gives us enough rope to hang yourself. So we used our best judgment and decided not to go.
We have had some really awesome miracles happen in the last few weeks. We had a smack down lesson with one of our less actives we work with and now she is coming to church! Now because she is coming to church she has received a calling to be Branch Chorister. She loves it. It is amazing how the gospel brings the best out in people. She now has a confidence that I didn't know that she had. She dyed her hair and bought a new out fit for church. She is so cute.
we had a day where our appointments fell threw. We were kind of bumbed about it, because one was with a lady we have a baptismal date with. We were out tracting and the first house we knocked on invited us in. We basically had the first lesson. She knows we are from God and is really interested in hearing more about the church. We see the today so we will have to see what happens. I love how the Lord works to make sure His children are taken care of.
At church yesterday we had a surprise. Nick, the guy that was baptized a month ago is moving to Cincinnati, Oh. He had gone there to see a friend and go to a baseball game and now he is moving there. I asked him if he prayed about it and he said that he did and it fells right. I hope that he stays close to the church.
I hope all is well and that you are looking for miracles in your day, because that is God saying I love you.

Letter form 9.8.08
Hey there family-
This might be a little short, but I will write. The house got struck by lighting??! I was a little scared because I didn't read the letter before looking at the pictures. I am glad that everything is all right. We have a third bed. Pres. Strout the branch president got a hold of a bed that we could use for the transfer. There is a sister coming out next transfer so one of us will be gone at the end of this transfer. Sister Pace goes home with Sister Mecham in November.
Nick is doing fine. He went out of town for the weekend so we didn't meet with him. I love you and hope that all is well. I know that the Lord well help us when we ask and are ready for whatever answer that he will give. It is amazing serving the Lord, I love it!

Letter from 8.25.08
Hey family,
Wow, where do I begin. This week was interesting. We knew on Thursday that Sister Mecham was getting transferred so we have just been saying good-byes and preparing for all that. I will be getting two new companions; a trainer and a greenie. This should be really fun to see how everything will work out since Sister Mecham burnt the bed that was left over from the last three-sum that was here. We are scrambling to find a new bed for the new sister.
Last night we had dinner and a lesson with the Neas' and Nick. That was fun. We had a lesson on Alma 23 and 24 about burying your weapons of war. I realized that I have some really big shoe that I have to fill once Sister Mecham is gone. She has touched so many lives. Everyone here loves her.
We tracted into this couple last week that is so golden it is unbelievable. He is related to like half the branch. He sees how there could be so many churches and that there is a need for a restoration. When we knocked on their door it was like they were waiting for us or something. But there is a down side. They are moving out of our area. Yeah, we went over for our first lesson and they told us they had bought a house and that they would be moving, but still wants to hear the lessons. Sister Mecham knows that Elders in the area they are moving to. She said that they are really good missionaries and that they would take good care of them.
Last Sunday there was a couple there that hadn't been there before. At the beginning of the third hour Pres. Strout pulled us out to meet the wife. Her name is Sallie and she wants to start the lessons again and get baptized. I was thinking ok lets fill the font. She wants her husband, who is a member, to baptize her, but he has some word of wisdom issues to work through. The cool thing is that when we went over for our first lesson he was the one who acknowledged the fact he had a problem with the word of wisdom.
Nicole, the one who just got married has a request, could you get the scripture mastery scripture stickers? She has been hounding me for them. I guess I said that I would get them for her wedding present or something.

Letter form 8.18.08
Hey family,
This week has felt like an eternity, but it flew by. Sister Mecham and I went to the oral surgeon in Bangor on Tuesday to get checked out for her root canal. The doctor didn't think that she needs to get the root canal done as fast as the dentist thought. He said that it could wait till she got home. So no more trips to Bangor for teeth.
We went out to dinner with our ward mission leader on Friday. The restaurant had ESPN on doing a recap of the swimming events. Man it was hard not to watch.
So what is this host dinner thing? Is it for less actives or something? I love working with our less actives. Yes they need a kick in the pants every once and a while, but they are still good people.
The weather right now has been kind of crazy. It has been unseasonably cool and wet. It is humid, but I think that i have gotten use to that. The weird thing is that the leaves on some trees have begun to change colors. I guess that is has been cool enough at night to make them change.
I had to speak in Sacrament meeting on Sunday and then we taught the gospel principles class. That class was a very interesting class let me tell you.
We have a good week set up this week. I think that we are eating dinner at the apartment twice. I can't wait there are some good cooks out here.

Letter from 8.4.08
Hey there family-
Yes last week was a very interesting week. But this past week was fun. I got to eat two things that I have never had before. We had lobster at the Neas'. It was John's (the dad) birthday and he likes sea food. I think I like lobster. The tails are tough, but the claws are better. Well... let me back up a bit. This was Friday so we usually have dinner and a lesson with the Dow's so we had two meals that night. At the Dow's we had deer. There is a family in the branch that has a dear farm so it wasn't as gamy as wild deer. It was like having a piece of beef.
This probably not making much since but all this happened the same day Nick had his baptismal interview. At like 5, we had lobster with the Neas' then we booked it to the church for the interview then ran over to the Dow's for dinner and a lesson. It was a busy day. Nick passed his interview so he is getting baptized on Saturday. My first one, I can't wait!
Next p-day Sister Mecham is getting her cavity filled so we will be picking up our e-mails, but expect a letter in the mail again. Sorry p-day is only really 10-6pm. That is not a day that is a time period. So we won't have time to write our e-mails. Then on Tuesday we get to go to Bangor again so Sister Mecham can get a root canal. She is sooo excited, let me tell you.
So spike is a dry Mormon now? Did you tell him that is a sign that he needs to get working? No, I understand that he needs to work all this out at his own pace. George, the one that his wife moved to South Dakota, we dropped him because he said he needs to work out the Book of Mormon out on his own, but he will continue to come to church. And when he is ready he will give us a call. It was a good thing that he came to that decision on his own. We were feeling that same way.
Everything is going good and I hope all is well back home. Are you keeping all my e-mails? If not tell me so I can print them off so I can keep them.

Letter from 7.21.08
Hello family,
Sounds like you are all on the move! this week has been... I don't know exactly remember what has happened everything has begun to blur together. Oh, ok I remember something. We had lunch last district meeting with our district. We were invited to come and have lunch with the Elders and we think we know why. Our senior zone leader is very sure of himself and the district leaders companion totally has a man crush on him. So all through lunch it was ego petting. It was interesting to see that. Sister Mecham and I are really happy we are sister missionaries because we don't have to pet any ones ego to feel really special, we are not trying to be APs. Hehe
I have been really tried this week so it has been hard to focus. There was a time that I could have my brain on and my body just go through the motions, but alas I am getting old and that does not happen any more.
You wanted to know about Nick, the one that kicked out his girlfriend. He is on fire. We taught him last night about the law of tithing. We were kind of scared that he would not want to because he is already paying child support and alimony, but he was totally for it. He has been our saving grace this past transfer and now. We know that he is all in and just can't wait till he gets baptized on the 9th of august.
We had a cottage meeting at the Neas' on Saturday. They are a recent convert family. we invited Nick and George and we all played jeopardy. It was fun. Bro. Neas has a major chewing and drinking problem and both Nick and George are giving up one or the other. It was really good or them to see that they can give it up and that life can happen with out them in their lives.
We are trying really hard to find some new investigators, but the summer time is really hard because people are out camping or doing things with the family. We got a referral from a sister in the branch that seems promising. She has been introduced to the Book of Mormon and has read for it a little and wants to have us come over. she is a nurse so it is hard to catch her. And there is another lady who we tracted into that is interested, but she is a cardiac nurse in Bangor and is going to school at the same time so she is really busy.
I think that I won't get transferred for a while because of the length of time that sisters have served here before. I don't have a problem staying here for a while. I like it here.
I hope that all is well on the western front. The only thing here is the heat and the humidity.

Letter from 7.14.08
Hello family-
I hope that you all got your letters. Last week I went up to Bangor to do some shopping, like mom said I was born to do it.
Any way this week was awesome. We got to meet with all of our investigators which sometimes doesn't always happen. Nick was our miracle this week. We pulled up to his home and we noticed that his live-in girlfriend's car was not there. When we walked in the lights were all on and there was music playing, which that never happened before. we sat down for our lesson and he announced that he was no linger living in sin. He has a word of wisdom problem so I just assumed that he had stopped smoking. I am very naive. He kicked his girlfriend out! That was the change that we noticed when we walked in. There wasn't a shade over the house. The light was shinning forth. The next thing that he announced was that he wanted to move up his baptismal date two weeks. I was so happy from last week when he actually set a date that I really didn't quite understand the cool factor of having the investigator move up their date. I am still learning all this stuff still.
We also got to teach Mike who we have to move slow with because he is dyslectic so he has to go really so when he does his readings. He seems to be moving along pretty good we just wished he saw the importance of keeping consistent each week instead of every other week.
George is having a hard time getting an answer to his prayers about the Book of Mormon. We are still optimistic because he came to church yesterday and he still does his readings and wants to meet with us for lessons.
Saturday we had a mission wide conference call. That was cool. Pres. Jensen wanted to implement a new way of reporting numbers and thought it would be faster if he did it then instead of waiting for zone conference. It was cool because I had to say the opening prayer and an elder I came out with that is on the other side of the mission said the closing. I had been wondering how he was doing and I am sure now that he is doing just fine.
Last night was transfers. No I did not get transferred or you would have gotten a very short e-mail like last week. Sister Mecham was scared because she has been here 6 months and it is about time for her to be transferred, but we are together here or another 6 weeks. We are glad because the guys are moving in the right direction and a new missionary might throw them off.

Letter from 6.30.08
Hello family,
Well this week has gone by so fast. In the moment it feels like the days are so long, but when you look back at the week you can't believe all the things that happened.
We had a shake up in the district. A set of Elders was taken out of our district and set down south area. That now leaves us with the district leaders and us. Now we have to have the zone leaders come to our district meeting so that there isn't the same amount of elders and sisters.
This past week I had to teach at district meeting, which at first I was totally alright with it. I was actually excited. Then I found out that the APs were on splits with our zone leaders. I got a little scared, but our APs are the best. They made us a chocolate pie last week. The most busy missionaries in the mission and they made us a pie.
Yesterday was a really busy day for us. We had a missionary Sunday. Pres. Huntchens the first councilor in the mission presidency came and spoke in Sacrament meeting. Then that night we had a fireside. We had 5 or 6 people tell their conversion story and we watched a movie about member missionary work. It was good. But in between that we went to Brittany Neas' birthday party. The Neas family was baptized right before I got here. They are amazing. Always full of questions. John, the dad, has read all the way up to the middle of Alma.
You wanted to know where all the women are? Well, two of our three investigators are married or getting married to women that are already members. But finding more women to teach... I don't know. A lot of the times the husbands don't want them to be taught even though they are interested. But we are out there trying to find them.
We had been playing phone tag with the APs and we finally got a hold of each other last night. We were kind of scared that something was wrong, but that was not the case. The president had been looking over the number of the different areas and we had been the most successful and wanted to give a pat on the back. It is strange that that happened, because we have been feeling that we could be doing so much better. Tomorrow we get more miles so now we can go to the more lying towns. There we will find some new investigators.
I can't really think of anything else to say. I am going to print off some pictures today so look for them in the mail.

Well this week has gone by so fast. In the moment it feels like the days are so long, but when you look back at the week you can't believe all the things that happened.
We had a shake up in the district. A set of Elders was taken out of our district and set down south area. That now leaves us with the district leaders and us. Now we have to have the zone leaders come to our district meeting so that there isn't the same amount of elders and sisters.
This past week I had to teach at district meeting, which at first I was totally alright with it. I was actually excited. Then I found out that the APs were on splits with our zone leaders. I got a little scared, but our APs are the best. They made us a chocolate pie last week. The most busy missionaries in the mission and they made us a pie.
Yesterday was a really busy day for us. We had a missionary Sunday. Pres. Huntchens the first councilor in the mission presidency came and spoke in Sacrament meeting. Letter from 6.23.08
Hey there family-
Ok I know that you all would like a personal e-mail, but I have only 30 minutes to write so if there is something that you want answer understand the whole family will see it or i can write you a letter.
I would love to hear from Johne, but I cannot write back to him so I think that I will have to attach a letter to you guys or write him a letter and mail it to you mom and dad.
Y'all want to know what has been happening here. Rain. No, really, there has been a lot of rain. Sister Mecham and I won a competition to see who can get the most new investigators. Wow writing that out makes it sound bad, but we are moving the work forward. We had 6 new investigators, but I think the Lord gave us that awesome experience so that we could know what He really wants us to focus on this transfer.
This week has been very interesting. All but 2 I think have dropped us or we have dropped them. That was a little discouraging, but there is some light. We have three solid investigators that are men that are wanting more from this life. George is married to a woman that was baptized last transfer. He has seen the change that has occurred in her life and wants to know more. Mike is engaged to a less active member. There has been missionaries that have tried to teach him before, but he didn't go very far. After he learned that he could be sealed to his family forever he got interested again. Nick is a guy that has been through everything that you could think of since he started to hear the lessons, but he feels good when he comes to church and when we teach him. I also think that he wants the best for his boys.
Dad we were tracting yesterday and we came across a man that was watching the race. He was a total Nascar fan. Flags of Casey Kane and old posters of Dale. It was cool.
We have a car that we use here. If we didn't we would not be able to get to half of our area. I don't know how big it is mile wise, but it is big and the houses in some of the towns are very spread out. We have a branch here in Newport. I think that we get about 60 people to church. They are awesome here. The branch mission president Brother Hewnis make sure that we are fed every Sunday. Brother and Sister Dow are like our parents, and the Raats love to spoil us with gifts.
I don't know if you received this information, but if you send a package to the mission home I will not get it until Zone Conference. So send it to my address in Maine. 190 Elm St. Newport, Me 04953. I think that I will be here for at least another transfer, but you never know. transfer is in the middle of the July.
